RatMaze is a text-mode action/maze game where players must navigate through a series of mazes, collecting stars while avoiding chasing rats. The game’s fast-paced gameplay and increasing difficulty make it a thrilling experience, even with its basic mechanics. With seven mazes to explore and only three lives to spare, RatMaze tests your speed, strategy, and ability to stay one step ahead of the relentless rats. Gameplay Overview Objective: Navigate through the maze and collect all the stars before the rats catch you. Avoid the rats (represented by X’s) to survive and progress to the next maze. Maze Navigation: Use the keyboard to move your character (represented by a symbol, e.g., @) through the maze. The maze layout is displayed in text mode, with walls, stars, and rats represented by simple characters. Rats: Rats chase you through the maze, and if they catch you, you lose a life. The rats’ movement is fast and relentless, adding tension to the gameplay. Mazes: The game features seven mazes, each with increasing difficulty. Later mazes have more complex layouts and faster rats, making survival a challenge. Lives: You start with three lives. If you lose all your lives, the game ends.
